Soulis
Soulis
is an ongoing collaborative project between Tammi S., Rosie Owens,
Jarome Matthew and Jose S. Gutierrez Jr. Their vision was to
break out
of the monotonous
rut that r&b music has fallen into by blending pop, funk,
soul, and hip hop, and creating futuristic funk, that still
has old school flavor.
In between
appearances in movies such as FutureSport starring Wesley Snipes
and Vanessa Williams, Tammi S. lent her smooth, widely diverse
voice and catchy melodies to award winning Hip Hop artists. Discovered
by Pro Soul during one such production, Tammi soon realized her
talents in writing killer lyrics and melodies that far exceeded
any artist she had sung backup for.
Raised in
Los Angeles, Luvva J was immersed in Hip-Hop culture and expression
back when it was neither cool or mainstream. Now acting as consultant
to various urban radio stations, record labels and events, Luvva
J is also a sought after DJ and MC for various west coast shows
and events such as concerts like The Westside Connection, Warren
G., Digital Underground, Kurupt and Ja Rule.
Having worked
with numerous live acts and bands throughout her musical career,
including L.A. Style and Wynton Marsalis, Rosie Owens is the
founding member and former lead vocalist and writer for Soulis.
Rosie brings a classic soul sound that
runs deep from her family roots in jazz, soul, and blues.
Soulis' debut
album, 'Everfresher' is a collection of driving funk influenced
r&b tracks with a classic old school flavor with futuristic
overtones.
